Routines
Do you have a positive, proactive plan for your day?
Are you happy with your week and the balance of activities in each day?
Your routine will be totally unique to your family. It will probably change often too. The routine I had for Sam, as a two-year-old was very different from the one I had for him as a three-year-old.
Please do keep in mind WHY a routine is helpful.
Having a plan for each day helps us balance our roles as mother, housekeeper, homemaker, wife, friend etc. It also enables us to have a calm and orderly home, which is ideal for training our little ones and meeting the needs of each family member.
Most importantly however it frees us up to focus on the relationships within our family. I have a lot more time to sit and read, cuddle, tickle and play with my child when I’m organised. I also have the energy and the time to sit and chat or play board games with Kris in the evenings if the house is in order.
Is your routine enhancing or detracting from your relationships? Are you, or your family members, stressed or energised by your daily plan? If your plan is not working, then change it.
Find a plan that is right for you and your situation. If you like variety, then ensure your weekly plan caters for that. If you are very social, then plan times for visiting friends and having friends over.
Do you regularly have fun days where you throw out your schedule? I love the afternoons when we just jump in the car, drive up the mountains and find a new place to explore, or when we spend the whole afternoon just playing in the yard.
Titus 1:8 Rather he must be . . . .self-controlled, holy and disciplined.
