Building Blocks
There is truly no greater privilege than caring for the children God has entrusted into our care.
I find it quite sobering to realise that every interaction with my child is like a building block.
Every day, I have the chance to build self-control, consideration, esteem, and love through my tone, my tongue, my actions and my reactions.
Likewise, I have the chance to build selfishness, rudeness, rejection and scorn through my tone, my tongue, my actions and my reactions.
What are you building?
My greatest desire is to gradually overfill my children's hearts with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
I fail many times, often daily, but slowly and surely I'm seeing the strong wall of virtue being built inside their little hearts and minds. At times it seems blocks are falling off or that no progress is being made at all. However over time, those character virtues are staying firm in their little hearts and I'm encouraged to keep building through those difficult days. I hope you are too.
It is very humbling to think that God has chosen you, and no one else, to be the mother to one, two, three or even more precious little lives.
May our great and good God grant you the wisdom, the strength and the compassion to protect your child, to train your child, and most of all, to love your child.
